About | Current

Polio nearly killed me when I was five years old. As a profoundly disabled adult, I worked in a rugged overseas location of improbable adventure. Now retired, I write, speak, mentor, listen to hearts, and befriend. My biggest current project is my memoir - a story of hope.

Kids

Great Commission Kids

Great Commission Kids mini-magazine aims to encourage children to be involved in missions throughout their lives. I enjoy being a part by contributing and editing to the stories.

Missionary Mentoring

I mentor young people exploring a career in missions. I didn't seek them - they approached me. We meet for informal chats once a month on a Sunday afternoon.

Writing

Short Stories

I write to paint a picture in readers' minds of how great, powerful, and loving God is, and how He can turn their weakness into an unexpected kind of strength. My stories show that anyone who turns to God will find in Him the hope and strength that will turn their kind of brokenness into something of joy. They are stories of hope.

Newsletter

Four times a year I write a newsletter, EY On the World, with fresh information not posted elsewhere. Read the latest one here. Or you can subscribe by clicking on the Contact tab above and I’ll add you to my email list.

Memoir, Running on Broken Legs

I am convinced that my story is one God can use to bring inner wholeness and joy to any broken life. It can also give God's people confidence to press on through their challenges, knowing God will use them to display His greatness.

This book won first prize of the Unpublished Memoir category in the 2020 Cascade Awards writing contest. The memoir is now published and available. Click on the "Memoir Page" link below for ordering information.

Public Speaking

One of the things I love to do the most is talk to the next generation. Usually that is in a college class setting. Whatever the venue of a presentation, it takes some days to get my body ready, and some days to recover, but I am SO grateful I’m able to! Helping to spark, stimulate or encourage another generation of future missionaries to persevere and go is a use of my limited energy that will last for eternity. What can top that?!
